This last Sunday night I watched my Houston Rockets take on the Los Angeles Lakers. What made the game unique is that the Rockets were expected to get beat by the Lakers when they are healthy, yet the Rockets had to play the Lakers without their best two players (Yao Ming and T-Mac), not to mention Dikembe Mutombo. These guys not only played with heart, they hustled so hard they were up by 20 points on the Lakers just about the entire game before winning! They had secondary players containing Kobe Bryant! (tears are welling up in my eyes now!). Anyway, the point is not that I am an obsessed Houston sports fan (that is simply a fact). The point is that when the odds are against you… just add some hustle.
Everyone wants to talk about leadership skills and intelligence, but the truth is that the people, churches and organizations that get ahead know how to hustle. Are you working as hard as you can? The Bible puts is this way:
"Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically." Romans 12:11 NIV
Is your church not growing? Preach more services. Is your business not expanding? Increase your sales calls. Are you tired of feeling tired? Begin a regular aerobic exercise routine. Remember, God cannot bless your laziness. You have to work hard to give God something to bless. Now quit reading blogs all day and go hustle towards your goals!
